The ironic part is the reason she gave. She said it was because they typically tend to clog the aisles with all their stuff. I didn't point out that would be a reason FOR preboarding.
It is not a huge deal, depending on where you are flying. Most people are fine and in many cases helpful.
As far as the stroller, you will likely have to gate check it, but usually by the time you get off the plane, it will be planeside waiting for you.
This is preceisely the reason I want to preboard. It will allow me time to get the seat strapped in while my wife waits to board last with the little one. The reason of clogging up the aisles does indeed make zero sense. If the seat were already there, it is a simple matter of dropping the kid into it.
Either way, if I do not get a positive response the first time, I will ask other gate agents at our gate until I get a positive response from at least one or a no from all. Sure does not hurt to try.
