But Cigarman based on the information you provided information you are Platinum.
Based on figures I've seen floating on the board earlier, about 2% of ALL Elites are Platinum.
I'm a lowly Silver who flies about 50K per year and for various reasons not all on CO. Thanks to EUA I sit in coach about 50% of the time. When I sit in coach I deal with 31" pitch and sometimes it's on a 5+ hour flight to Latin America or on a transcontinental flight. If that's the case, I'd rather fly AA where they 34" to 35" pitch in all of coach (can't fly United because their network in Latin America is limited).
Only a tiny number of members in ANY FF program are in the top tier as you are. Quite frankly, I doubt Executive Platinum members in AA fly coach much and when they do they do not have to deal with 31" pitch. When they travel internationaly they can upgrade to business class using miles without having to be in the top tier of AAdvantage.

dguruswamy, NO actually you miss the point...
What's coach? I fly about 160 segments last year on CO. Only in coach ONCE (and it was my own stupid fault...forgot to call in from disney world, watching the fireworks!). AND...AND... I have over 450,000 miles from last year... AND NOT ONE was ever spent for a domestic upgrade. So quite frankly, I don't care how big economy is on UA (or how many pretty stickers they give you) UNTIL the coach seat is larger than my FC seat... Talk to the hand!
