I definitely agree with the other posters...I'd much rather have something specific to Thailand (such as scarves or table linens as othes have mentioned) than something I could purchase easily at home (albeit at a much higher price). The question reminds me of a gift my college flame brought me from a summer trip to Europe -- my favorite of the gifts he brought me from that trip was a linen & lace blouse from Belgium. It was something he wouldn't have found anywhere around where either of us lived. Same with another gift he brought me from Australia on a different trip.
