Heck, I was in Portland a week ago for 3 days on an MR by myself. I think you find a lot of solo travelers on FT, if for no other reason than the convoluted nature or some MRs and needing to be a little odd in order to do them. The weather didn't cooperate, but a nice thing about Portland is that sometimes you can get a good hotel deal through Priceline. I got the 3* "downtown" Holiday Inn (really near Lloyd Center) on a $34 bid.
