here. I don't know if there is such a thing as "co-terminals" on award travel... My guess is there isn't, so that would incur a change fee. Do call and find out.
As for standing-by on a different routing, I'd think that would be OK (with the attendant risk of not clearing the list at the intermediate point and having no recourse against UA).
