Having been in a similar situation, I've always wondered if the FAs would let you stay on the plane (at the gate) until the scheduled arrival time. I'd rather sleep/rest in an E+ seat than wander ORD like a zombie at 5 in the morning. But I suppose it's not practical because of the way crew scheduling/pay works.
I've hung around for up to about 5 minutes after most everyone deplaned to finish a phone call, but never for 15+ minutes.
I love when when we get in early as long as our gate is ready. Also if it's my last leg of the day

It's not practical to have pax stay on the plane even when we arrive on time. Many times due to scheduling the FA crew will have another flt to work & must get to that plane so that it can leave ontime. Some pax love to take their time deplaning since it's their final stop, the FA's can't get off until all the pax are off. If it's a thru flt then until the next FA crew arrives.
