Issue at Logan BOS 4/25/05 Do you feel Safer???

As you many of you may have heard or read, yesterday afternoon, someone "Went up the down staircase " at the AA terminal at Logan in BOS. They evacuated the terminal, emptied the planes and searched for whatever, finding nothing, disrupting over 1000 peoples travel plans.

Don't get me wrong. I'm for safe travel, god knows I'm on a plane enough, but.... was that necessary, and where was the guard who supposed to be stationed outside the "Do NOT Enter" door?

I'm raising the question because I'm not sure how safe AA at Logan is these days?

Before you go through security you are supposed to have a valid government issued ID. Well my newly (one week) 21 year old daughter camed home the weekend with an expired driver's license. Her goal was to go to the DMV renew her license with a new picture, but more important not have a license that said she was under 21. Needless to say, her flight Friday from STL was delayed due to weather and she missed the DMV.

At STL they noticed that her license had expired and made her go through what she calls the "Terriorist Line". They checked all her dirty laundry, laptop, books, other forms of ID (she has a photo college ID and a BOA Debit card with a photo). When she went through security at the AA terminal at Logan she used her college ID, not even the expired drivers license. No one questioned her. They did question the "Pot Roast" she was taking back for dinner though.

So the question is how safe is AA at Logan? And is the increase in "security and safety" worth all the inconvenience we go through? I don't think so.
