does anyone have anecdotal experience with this?

thanx
My synthesizer, packed in an SKB hard case along with my microphone stand, has made over 200 flights in the past few years. Checking it has never resulted in an oversize baggage charge. I've had one handle come off (NWA) and sometimes one or two of my snaps have been unlatched (probably due to TSA indifference) but no major problems.

One drawback is that it is often among the last pieces of luggage to get unloaded from the plane and delivered to the baggage claim area. Sometimes it is placed right on the carousel but often it is hand-delivered to the baggage office and has to be picked up there. My case resembles a firearm case so there can be some confusion.

Good luck!
