Seriously, since the PVG flights don't begin for nearly a year, the absence of a 5:30 am LAX-ORD flight TODAY doesn't mean that AA can't begin one next April, if demand warrants it.
I was surprised today when I tried to book LAX-ORD leaving early evening, that the last flight before the red-eye was at 4:30pm. They used to have a flight around 7pm to ORD, and it must have been cancelled.
