My question: how are my chances to get bumped if I volunteer and what could I expect for compensation? Is it sensible to expect to be re-routed and op-ug'ed on another flight (e.g. via ORD/IAD) or will LH be strict and offer the flight to MIA in C the next day? At the moment I plan to check in the night before, but that will probably spoil any chance of a bump. What is your experience? Thanks in advance,

They will reroute you probably, as the flight is at 9:50, the last time they were offering FRA-BOS on LH and then AA to MIA.
Compensation is 600 (<4h) or 1200€ (>4) in vouchers. A downgrade to Y will be honored with 3000€ (F to C is 8000€)).
They are very strict about upgrades to F, but after being bumped you can ask of course, it may help, if you have a routing available for which you know there are F seats available!
