Apparently Z Class tickets DO earn bonus miles. And the bonus miles do count for status as well.

From my Current Elite Status Report Page:

"2001 Elite Mileage Balance: 11,635"

Based on this, the "Fare Bonus" apparently DOES count as status mileage

2001 Elite Mileage Balance: 11,635

(2100+3801+1900+2556+1278=11,635)

Note that the Qantas miles do NOT count for status, nor is there an elite bonus with Qantas flights. Although I have been told that you can earn a BC or FC fare bonus for flying with QF.
