You would be quite surprised at how well repeatedly exclaiming the words and phrases “Hot soup! Coming through! Excuse me, please!” works as you are quickly approaching people from behind, even in places where one would never expect to find hot soup.
This works with people who tend to congregate at doorways, exits and entrances as well as people on moving sidewalks and escalators.
It does not alarm people (as would shouting, “Fire! Get out of the way!!!”), yet their first reaction is almost always to move out of the way...
