Which is more important: EQMs or total miles? Must you go the weekend of May 13-15?
There are some decent domestic fares - SAN-WAS for $208+, SAN-CHI $178+, etc, etc. Availability is tough to find if you are not flexible with dates.
Personally, I wouldn't do a Europe run at this time of year - fares aren't low enough, in my opinion, unless you do want to do some visiting. Domestic US wise, NW's fares are capped at two transfers each way, which leaves DL fares (where you take a 25% silver elite bonus hit) or CO fares (where you take a 50% EQM hit). If you were gold, DL runs would be much more rewarding (100% EQM and 100% elite bonus).
For example, there's SAN-IAH-DFW-DTW-BWI-MSP-SAN for May 14-15 for $250 after tax - depending on how close you are to Gold, the cents/mile ratio is likely the same... if you are set on doing the CDG run, you can expand the routing. It looks something like (truncated):
ROUTING 122 FROM SAN-NW-SFO/LAX-NW-MEM-NW-ATL/
CHI/MSP-NW-DTT-
TO NW-PAR*
OR TO NW-ATL/NYC/BOS/WAS/EWR/YMQ/
Thorw in -AMS-PAR at the end...
And I don't think the Gold elite bonus would be pro-rated to the cutoff point - I think that it would start at the first segment after you hit 50K EQMs... I am not sure though.
