What a completely STUPID idea: $15 to transfer electronic stickers
Did anyone else get this e-mail tonight:
Dear CharlesMD,
THANK YOU JDiver FOR CATCHING THAT
Would you like to share your AAdvantageŽ 500-mile upgrades* with your elite-status friends, relatives or colleagues?
For a limited time, you can transfer some or all of your 500-mile upgrades by paying just $15 for each upgrade transferred, and there's no limit to the number of accounts into which these upgrades can be deposited. All we ask is that upgrades be transferred into the accounts of AAdvantage GoldŽ, AAdvantage PlatinumŽ or AAdvantage Executive PlatinumŽ members only. Here's how:
- Contact AAdvantage Customer Service at 800-421-0600
- Provide the account into which your transferred upgrades should be deposited
- Use a major credit card in your own name to pay the $15 per upgrade fee
When you transfer your upgrades, you can provide a valued gift to someone else. Transferred upgrades are deposited into the recipient's account and available for use immediately.
First of all, why not just pay $10 more an then you could keep your upgrade?? How did AA come up with $15? Maybe if the charge was $5 I would give my friends some upgrades, but $15, come on! A more useful thing for AA to do would be to allow you to transfer these to no-status friends and have the upgrade clear after the GLDs-- I'd pay $15 for that!
