You could also switch to a bank that rebates the ATM fees for when you're on the road. I use (but am not affiliated with) Umbrellabank.com, which offers a great Basic Interest Checking account ($500 minimum balance, no fees, .75-1.3% yield, unlimited checks, online billpay, unlimited postage paid deposit envelopes, native English-speaking telephone CSRs, ATM fee rebates up to $7.50/mo, FDIC insurance, and a Visa ATM/Debit card with no int'l transaction fees beyond the 1% Visa fee). If you're over 50, they offer an even better package.

Getting started with Umbrella can be a pain, but once the account is setup it's a great product (I've had it for 4 years now and have been very happy).

There are other similar banks out there, too.
