That's what they tell me but for the life of me I cannot figure out why. The ticket agent had to call "international" the last 2 times I went through this so why can't I do it from the comfort of my home while I'm making the reservation?? I think you have to sign something to have the miles pulled out. You don't
have to do this untill you check in for the flight, but the point is that your online itinerary gets "confused" and your seats disappear with a schedule change and this makes me nervous.

Another option would be to do it a the CRC or when checking in for your next flight.
That's what we do since we always book those flights 6 months out and we usually have other flights in between where we can take care of it.
