Somebody help me out with this question: if Ford owns Hertz, why do they have so many GM cars on the lot?
I understand having imports on the lot - those add variety to the fleet and enhance the overall offerings that Hertz has. But I don't get why they'd have, for example, a Grand Am or Grand Prix on the lot.
Not that I've ever owned a Ford, but as rental cars I was always a lot more pleased with the Hertz Taurus than I was the various GM's I'd get from other agencies.
If Hertz is sold to someone not currently in the rental car business, then I won't worry too much because they'll likely keep processes and procedures largely in place. But if one of the other big players like Enterprise or Cendant gets it, I'll be concerned... Those companies have already demonstrated that they don't run a rental operation as smoothly (for us travelers) as Hertz does.
