Hasn't done me any good but YMMV. I have a Mac and sometimes Wintel computers and Macs don't get along (most folks have Wintel laptops). Depends on how the networked laptop is configured and if it has wired/cellular access.
Perhaps one of the network gurus here can give you a better answer. I'm just a machinist
