I've heard from some inside BA that they would like to add a third daily service to JNB. The problem is the continuing dragging of feet by the UK and SA aviation authorities/politicians regarding slots and all the other issues. Makes me wonder if they are even able to add a third service reading this thread.
The domestic feeder services that dump pax onto long haul is fairly profitable, correct? Could BA not relieve some of the pressure on slots at LHR by moving more pax to direct services between places such as EDI and MAN to more North American destination or even more far flung places such as JNB or HKG? Could some of the profits not be transferred to these direct services? I am of course just mussing...
