That’s been my experience as well. I book most of my flights 3-6 months out and so experience a lot of minor changes.
Everytime I’ve seen my seats disappear, I’ve called DL in a panic only to find that they were still there although invisible to me.
But it doesn’t hurt to keep on top of this on a regular basis to insure you have the seats you originally requested.
