Heh, did this as an inexperienced flyer on my first int'l trip, LAX-JFK-JNB (African safari) back when they had non-stops on SA 744's out of JFK. Stopped in Windhoek for fuel and landed in the middle of a t-storm in JNB. On final, took vertical excursion and fell below the glide slope by a amount sufficient to demand what sounded like take-off power. I was in the upper deck and the ground looked awful close. After recovery, we proceeded to circle about a half hour amidst the lightning (rocking and rolling the whole time) before finding an appropriate hole in the cells to dive in.

I didn't puke and didn't think of asking to repeat the process After that flight, even the most severe turbulence I've been through barely gathers notice.
