A few months ago I was booked on the 9pm JFK-LAX flight, connecting from LHR on AA131. The flight left late from LHR, and Airshow showed us getting increasingly behind schedule. I didnt get to the T8 baggage re-check until 830pm and figured there was no way I would make my connection, and after waiting for quite a bit in a very warm customs hall after flying FCO-FRA-LHR-JFK and being tired, I was annoyed. But, I gave it a shot and somehow made it (being in C may have helped)! I wouldnt recommend going from gate 22 to gate 44 via customs and TSA in this amount of time, especially if you don't want to manufacture copious amounts of sweat, but on occasion, somehow, and for some reason, it can be done, but probably only if you are convinced that you are doomed to misconnect....oh hurry up with the new terminal!!!
