If I miss the connection, and AA sold me the tix, are they going to help with putting me up that night? Not that I am interested in missing that flight. I have no status with AA, just with AirCanada. I have not idea what their policies are on this.
When you say "help with putting" you up for the night, that's about all you can hope for: AA will usually offer a discount distressed rate voucher, for which you pay. If you mean "AA paying for the hotel," that is probably not going to happen unless you miss the connection because of delays clearly under AA's control (and NOT force majeure).
