But I can imagine, as most here probably can, dozens of people berating the gate agents: "I'm Platinum elite and I never get upgraded anymore."

Another scenario: As people board their ExpressJet flight, make a right turn into the cabin and remark "oh, not another one of these small planes." I've sat in 1A on more than my fare share of ERJ's and heard that phrase in several variations everytime.
