for years I banked all my miles with AS, inc about 30k this year. I got kinda fed up at the fact I couldn't get automatic upgrades on NW where I did most of my flying (whether i'm a silver or not, the option is nice) so I got comped to NW silver and now going to start banking there.

I have about 155k miles in my AS account, going to probably use them for an FC ticket on CX to Johannesburg, South Africa by way of HKG.

I'd see about getting comped to AS, they have an elaborate partner network inc. NW and CX, which may or may not suit you, but living in east asia, i'm sure you may use them.
