This is because CMB is classified in South Asia (the Star Alliance region which includes Bangkok, Singapore, etc.) To get from NA to South Asia for 90K miles in Business, you have to go across the Pacific and use SQ or TG to get to CMB, though I'm not sure where the 115K miles comes from for the Atlantic routing. I bet if you called and spoke to another agent, you might get something different.
