Needless to say DL was unable to fish anybody in at that price premium and I noticed tonite that they have dropped the fare for my days in May to $256 all in. When I click on their seating chart I see that the flights are almost all empty. All they managed to do with this pricing ploy is lose a lot of potential flyers who booked with AA (like me!).

I am convinced that their pricing department is just basically incompetent.
I purchased the $256 over the weekend (7-15 May flights). I would normally not wait until this late if I already confirmed I am going somewhere (needed connection to my Fiji flights) but I decided to wait it out since Song is offering 10k bonus miles and AA is only offering double miles (i.e. approx. 5k bonus miles). I'm sure gald I waited ... 1.7 cents per mile is not too shabby for a must go, non-MR airfare.
