Hi Npollet,

Looking at your itinerary I'd say the Qantas FF program will offer you the best earning potential. You'll earn 100% of miles on all QF sectors (including the two operated by FJ), and because you're booked in H class, you'll earn 100% of miles on the BA sectors as well. Most economy booking classes on BA only earn 25% of miles. Based on this, your itinerary would earn you around 27,000 miles, which should be plenty for a free return trip within Europe.

You could credit your flights to AsiaMiles, where you will earn 100% of miles for your BA flights, but only 50% of miles for the QF operated sectors. Note that the SYD-NAN and NAN-LAX will not accrue any miles because they are operated by a non-oneworld carrier, despite the fact it's on a QF flight number. If you have status with AsiaMiles, or if this itinerary will help you attain status then it may be worth not earning miles on the two FJ sectors for the greater gain.

The other option of course is to join AA's AAdvantage program, but then you won't be able to earn any points for your trans-atlantic BA flight.

Hope this helps, and hope you enjoy your time in this part of the world.
