If so, how does one get from Anchorage to Seward?
Easy to do. Seward is served by both the Alaska Railroad from Anchorage (early morning departure) and the Seward Bus Line. Your cruiseline can also provide transfers from the Anchorage airport via bus or train (from the new airport terminal). The airport departures are designed to coordinate with many cruise ship departures in the late afternoon and evening.
Some cruiseships now use Whittier as a port which is a little over an hour from Anchorage vs. the 2-3 hour bus trip to Seward. Again, check with your cruise company for availability of bus and/or train transfers.
Since many cruise passengers take long flights to Anchorage, you might consider an overnight in Anchorage to relax before or after your cruise. Makes things a little less hectic.
