I couldn't help but notice the tremendous assistance that was given recently to a honeymooner to be going to Hawaii. I hope I can also tap into the creative intellect that resides on this site.
Here's the scenario: Honeymoon in Tahiti booked for early May, LAX to PPT already taken care of (AOM Biz). Needless to say, choosing top resorts for two weeks in the islands have humbled my ability to purchase first class domestic from BWI/LAX. I have never been involved in an upgrade situation and have no idea of the success rate IF I had enough miles to qualify.
My modest miles to date are:
12,675 NW
3,575 US AIR
3,000 UNITED
3,000 AA
My fiance is better equipped (don't go there)with her miles: NW 17,000, Delta 10,000, United 6,500. I should have more NW miles posting before too long and have the opportunity to pay off my honeymoon package with FF credit card (that I don't even have yet) for about $10k. My fiance also has a United ticket worth about $250, and I have three (3) Worldwide Awards from Marriott. Preferably, United would be top choice with direct flight and schedule considered with NW second. With time frame, posting time and current banks considered, what avenues would be my best shot at earning two upgrades?
