Some of you may be tempted into thinking of ways to sneak lighters past the security checkpoint and may even succeed. I caution you by reminding you that it's one thing to be caught with a prohibited item; it's quite another when it appears that you tried to artfully conceal that prohibited item from routine screening. You may find yourself being questioned by law enforcement; I think you can definitely count on a federal fine issued by TSA. No matter what you think of the policy, there are definite consequences for trying to sneak any prohibited item past security.
You're all big boys and girls. Do what you think you have to, but be aware of the consequences. It's your choice. Always has been. Always will be.
nice post

and sorry for the truncation...but since you work for the tsa, i do have a question (and also thank you where i don't always agree with the methods your employer uses, the purpose is important and needs to be done so again, thank you)
so my question-and it's based on a simple scenario for airports that still have airside smoking rooms (iad, las and lax to anme a few). what is the sop if someone is observed using a lighter in one of these locations? since lighters are now phohibited items, doesn't it become a "security breach"? i'm a smoker and where i disagree with the lighter ban, i will follow it and bring my 4 books of matches but i would be royally p/o'd if there was a terminal evac because of a lighter. sorry for being a pita but i'd really like to know what one is supposed to do/what will happen and just to add, the new lighter ban allows 4 books of matches but says nothing about boxes of wooden/stick matches (not the strike anywhere matches as they are banned) but plain old wooden matches-i won't light my cigars without them.....
anyway just wondering and thanks again bart ^
