Misled by SMS on Post FO Status of Tickets
On February 28, my FO status expired. However, previous to that I contacted SMS and this board about my post FO status on tickets purchased before status expiration. My question on the DL board was primarily about upgrades, but when I spoke to SMS, I asked about upgrades, seat assignments, and bonus miles. Pretty much, the gentleman from SMS explained to me that so long as I bought the tickets before Feb. 28 that my status would follow, except for standby upgrades at the airport. He informed me that bonus miles would follow the ticket, seats in the medallion section would be available to me and upgrades in the system would be processed before the day of flight is available. He then informed me that I should make sure to buy my tickets before Feb. 28 to make sure I do not lose this valuable benefit. So, I went online and made all my ticket purchased from then through the summer. Well, yesterday I took my first flight post FO status and sure enough when I check in, my FO status is printed on top of my boarding pass. When I get home to check my miles, no bonus miles. So I call DL Skymiles Reservations. They transfer me to SMS and SMS explains that yes I was misled and no status benefits carry over once status expires. Which I completely understand and respect. What upsets me is that when they knew my status was expiring, they used it as a tool to get me to make purchases that I would probably never had made so quickly with the enticement that I would be receiving these FO perks. I do not believe that I 100% deserving of the 25% bonus miles, but I do feel that DL misled me and possibly others. Any opinions on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.
