Not the tube station, just on the street. In one of the few parts that are not full of council flats. I know it is not 100% risk-free but it did seem reasonably safe. I took extra care hiding everything from view....At the end of the day, you only live once!
BTW: Bus costs 1.20...And it took me a whopping 22 minutes from car to terminal.
