Now, Geneva is at the end of the lake, which means everytime you want to get somewhere into Switzerland, you have to drive the 40 odd miles back and forth until you decide in which direction you want to go. I just wanted to spare you these unnecessary trips and have you stay at a more central place, so as to either stay in bed a little longer in the morning or getting faster to whichever destination, be it the Wallis region or the Bernese Oberland or the immediate surroundings.

Vevey and the Hotel des Trois Couronnes would be my choice, you'll find it on the list I provided on the homepage about the region, but it has become quite expensive since the renovations.

Much less luxurious would be the Hotel de chailly, also on the list.

There are also some good hotels in Lausanne:

Depending on what you expect from a hotel, I could look around for you.

For the car, it is of course more convenient to rent directly from the airport, but think of the costs of parking in the city of Geneva. I wanted to spare you those...
Magexpect: I really appreciate your taking the time to share your views and suggestions. What you say about spending time in transit to/fro from the hotel are very, very valid -- especially the extra time in bed. My wife is very efficient and will undoubtably agree that we should be somewhere more central. I will check your referred links. Obviously, the use of hotel points at the President Wilson makes that hotel most attractive; however, there are, as you point out, other considerations. Oh, btw, won't we be faced with such parking costs at the other hotels too? I presume that we will need a car, right? Thank you again for your considerate help.
