Having asked the same question via email, I received the following reply today:
Dear alect,

Thank you for taking the time to email us.

If you make a booking before May 25 2005 for travel in 2006, the current points levels apply.
If you make a simple date change ie same route, same airline no penalty will apply.
If you make a change which require a reissue such as change of class of travel, change of routing, change of transfer and stopovers (also change from stopover to transfer and vice versa) a charge of 5000 points will apply. The new itinerary will also need to be recalculated, this will be done according to the rules on the day of the change. So if you require a reissue after 25 May 2005 the new program rules and points structure will apply for the new itinerary.
