I'm sure someone else can explain it better - but iirc, once a percentage of seats are assigned, remaining seats will appear blocked on aa.com - and in your case, you have no status and booked through a group / discounter agency, so your best bet is to show up early. You flight could very likely be overbooked, and they don't do musical chairs.
