The Essex house tracks repeat guests (like all great hotels do -- nothing to do with spg). It just occured to me that they get a lot of repeat business, which has priority over spg Plat, and that is why all the complaints about poor rooms from Plats. Easy solution: stay at the Essex house a dozen times, be Plat, and you'll get great treatment too.
