There appears to be some confusion between the various terms, associated with fares and bookings. To summarize:
  • Fare Basis is a 1-8 character code, e.g. "G1TGA"
    • Friendly Fare Names are used used by the AC to refer to the various fare [codes]. For example "G1TGA" is also known as "Tango"
  • Booking Class is a 1-letter code, which is always the 1st letter of the Fare Basis, e.g. "G"
  • Class of Service/Cabin Class is the physical space in the aircraft, e.g. Economy or Business

So the sequence is:
Fare Basis --> Booking Class --> Class of Service/Cabin Class
