I'm not sure about TED being a "SM" rather than "TM" (both are basically the same thing, just applied differently) and why it's not an (R) yet--even though it's common enough, its use in conjunction with the "generic" noun like "airline" or "flights" or whatever they use should still be considered distinctive enough to permit the (R) designation. Maybe they just haven't done the paperwork yet.
