thanks to everyone who's replied. Must say that FT is one of the most friendly forums around I'm actually reasonably familiar with London, having lived there on and off, so I too was also thinking of making the trek down to central London. Suppose I could probably get a return on the tube for something like GBP6. Or possibly the day return on the heathrow express (think that's not too pricey.. something like GBP 14? Would have to spend more money getting to whereever I wanna go from paddington though. What a zone 1 ticket cost nowadays? I'm sure it's gone past GBP2 by now) That is of course provided that I manage to get my flights checked through or my connecting flight allows me to check in early!

Lets keep my fingers crossed... Worst case scenario = paying for WiFi access to while away the 6 hours
