Just keep in mind that T-Mobile doesn't work at all in most rural areas more than 5 miles from an Interstate highway, while Tracfone covers you just about anywhere there's cell service (it has analog capability). If your travel takes you to any out-of-the-way locations here in the states, you may be without cell service if you use T-Mobile only.
I use T-Mobile as my primary phone, but keep a prepaid Nokia 1260 with analog capability (service from CallPlus, an AT&T/Cingular reseller) to use when I drive through rural areas.
