$100 for a year's worth isn't bad, especially if it gets you 1000 minutes, but the excess still expires at the end of the year.
If you have really low use, the cheapest entry to having a phone still seems to be Virgin Mobile. All they want is $20 every 90 days (plus $40-$60 for the cheapest phone), and your money *never* expires. Works on the Sprint network.
