I do truly hope this is true. A huge weakness with Continental is upgrades. Pretty much every other airline has an auto-upgrade where you put in a request (the opposite on NW I think: a request is auto, so you have to request NOT to upgrade) and your upgrade is cleared when the window is opened.

Or, they should do it by departure time, not date. If you have a 5:00p flight, you call at 5:00p on your date, not midnight. Sure, CO may have some die-hard elites who are willing to get up at midnight (even I do this sometimes! rarely!), but many of their premium customers have a lot of better things to be doing at midnight than calling CO. I don't know why they don't do something about this.
