A320 boarding usually starts 30 minutes in advance. 757 can be 35-40 minutes depending on avialibility.

I think that most of the time there is enough space. If a bag or two is left over, the FAs usually find space in a closet or in the front of Y. No special space is reserved for row 1. The bulkheads are actually 1a & 1b and 2c & 2d, with 2c & 2d having cutouts and generally being preferred.
