It sounds like most people had a better experience than me. I was just there this past weekend for an award stay. The staff at reception were friendly but not helpful. When I arrived at 9:00 am I could not check-in [no surprise] but they said they were fully booked and could probably not give me a king non-smoking. Oh well I thought and left my luggage with the concierge and went to enjoy my day. When I came back in the evening I was met with mr. efficiency not personality. No biggie. But the concierge disappeared and I had to wait about 5 minutes to get my luggage because mr efficiency could not get to the left luggage. At least when I got to my room I was happy for about 5 minutes. I got the king non-smoking. But after 5 minutes I figured out why. The neighbors had a young child that screamed and they were watching TV. After flying overnight and spending the whole day on the run I was hoping to turn in and do some serious sleeping. Our neighbors were doing what they could to prevent it. It was so bad my wife went down to the front desk to complain and was told there was nothing that could be done. But come back if the noise does not settle down.
The next night we return to the hotel around 20:00. No one greets us or even questions why we are entering the hotel and heading up the elevator. I find that disconcerting from a security point of view. The sleeping portion started better. But around 01:00 our new neighbors come home from a Sat nite on the town. They were cacklers. At least they settled down quickly.
The last night was uneventful. When we got our bill there was a one night charge on it. This is where I had the best service. When I went to check and before I could even explain the problem the desk clerk said, sorry our mistake. It is taken care of.
Overall I would not stay at that marriott again, especially if I was paying for it. The service is not what I would expect at a marriot, maybe a CY or FI. But that is just my opinion and experience.
And I did fill out the survey and send it in to HQ.
