My new IPOD arrived on Saturday. Yipee!! My wife gave me hard time because I already have the 40GB model, but 60 GB and color, well I had to have one!
What a nightmare!
I unpacked it saturday and tried to pop it in the dock to charge, but nothing happened. I'm not sure, but it appears that the docks from the "old" click wheel model don't seem to work with the new ones! In addition, they changed the power plug, so cords from the old ones don't work with the new power plugs and vice versa. DUMB MOVE!
It gets better.....
Sunday I tried to sync my new IPOD with Itunes. I decided just to be sure that everything was ok, I would load the s/w that came on the CD with the new IPOD. Everything worked, however when I plugged in the IPOD, it said it had to be formatted. ok. Did that, and plugged it in again. Itunes didn't recognize it, nor did my windows computer see the new USB device. Two hours later, I gave up, removed Itunes from my computer, rebooted and reinstalled. Finally my new IPOD was recoginized by both Itunes and my computer.
I have no idea if my experience was normal, however if it is, one has to wonder if anyone tested the upgrade path from older IPODs to newer ones to see if there was an issue!
At least it's done! Lost a day, but now I can carry all of my music, all of my pictures and all of my backup files on my travels!
