Was very impressed with the service at both! The HWV gave us a lovely Ocean Tower Ocean view room and at the Beverly Hills Hilton got one of the remodeled rooms. My 15 year old loved that she could take a "Hollywood Bath" and watch the flat screen TV in the bathroom.
HWV has some transporttation issues, the tram did not run 4 of the 7 days we were there, but after eating well the walk was good for us. Ate at all but the Japanese restaurant...never had a bad meal and the prices were what one should expect for an upscale property in Hawaii.
Did not use valet, except for the 1st night, although it was difficult sometimes finding a space to park as Spring break made the property full. Never really felt crowded anywhere but the parking lot. Could always find lounges by the pool and never had a problem getting dinner reservations. Did eat a few times at the King strip mall area.
Breakfast buffet expensive, so did not eat there often, found some other places on our trek around the island.
Was at the HWV the same time. Tram was stuck/broken at the Ocean Tower (West) stop for 4 days. We too got an Ocean Tower Room (ground floor, walk out to Buddha Point) but only after they tried to put this Diamond in the Lagoon Tower.
Food is expensive, but we had several breakfasts in the exec lounge.
According to staff, HWV at 100% occupancy from about Valentine's Day until mid-May. I
I too never fealt crowded (except on the boats while the tram was broken).
