If you read the conditions of carriage (or whatever they call it) they specifically exclude liability for certain items. I know this include cash, watches and jewelry, but also includes many other items. Before you check anything of value, I would ask to see these conditions. I had a printer that I checked a couple of years ago in the original box. It completely disappeared...and Continental would not cover it.
