While shipping it is by far the best solution, I suppose economy is your priority, so as to preserve the savings resulting from a purchase in the US.

If desperate, you could:
- get some form of third-party luggage insurance, and stick the monitor in its original packaging (which is usually fairly tough) in a large suitcase, and hope for the best. I personally wouldn't do this nowadays with the TSA's no-lock policy.
- remove the stand (held by 4 screws sometimes hidden behind a plastic cover), as the bare panel could fit in an odd-size but legal 45" total carry-on. Given the $900 price tag, I am assuming it is a 20-21" LCD; only a 16:9 20" LCD would safely fit in a standard 14"x22" carry-on. Put less desirable stand and accessories in checked luggage.
