Actually, the IFE is run on Windows. On occasion, it craps out. So does your PC. TWindows craps out regularly. That's the nature of the game. The world has come to accept mediocrity, so deal with it.
Which a/c are we talking about?
I know the 345's systems run on Linux (they did a reboot on the first YYZ YVR flight it was used on... I was sitting in J on that flight and saw the Penguin pop up on the screen)... but this wasn't the IFE though.
